Much like a floral bouquet or a piece of music, documentaries can be beautiful and resonant works of art. The internet is a vast field for a filmmaker to play in, without ever having to pick up a camera. It's time to get creative! In this 3-week workshop, participants will learn how to:

  • Source and sort archival images, sounds and texts (Session 1)
  • Explore artful cuts and layering techniques (Session 2)
  • Compose short audio-visual poems with collected material (Session 3)

The main objective of this workshop is to practice, but participants will learn by making work during class, and will leave with ideas for future projects. Beginners are encouraged to apply, but are expected to have access to DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro or similar software and have watched a tutorial prior to the first session. The workshop will be a great introduction for folks who are considering applying to Salt!
