CPT 003-1-S24 | Flower Painting Workshop: Celebrating the 100 Anniversary of the Longfellow Gardens

Course Overview:

Come spend the day learning how to paint flowers from observation in the gorgeous sun-drenched Longfellow Garden. Participants will closely observe the garden and its myriad of flowers while being introduced to drawing and painting techniques to render their beauty. This free workshop celebrates the Longfellow Garden's history on its 100th anniversary and its future. By spending the day being present with the beautiful flora that makes up this historic garden, participants will have the opportunity to luxuriate in the current beauty that the garden holds, while honoring the century-old space. Students will need an 8” x 10” frame to hold the artwork they painted that day to be installed in Shettleworth Hall in the Maine Historical Society building adjacent to the garden. This work will be showcased at their 100th-anniversary celebration on July 18, 2024, at 4 pm and will be on view through October 19, 2024. This is a wonderful opportunity for those looking to enter the world of painting and have their work in an exhibition.
