CPR 154-1-S24 | Repeat Repeat Repeat: Developing Repeat Patterns
Course Overview:
This workshop will explore the rich history of ornamentation through design. Using a simple, foolproof system of developing repeat patterns, students will generate a number of pattern modules in black and white and color, using markers, colored pencils, gouache, and cut paper. Students will gain a greater appreciation of the many possibilities of using pattern through demonstrations of pattern development techniques, class discussions, individual consultations and examples of repeat patterns throughout history and across cultures.

This course is for anyone interested in refining their pattern-making techniques. No prior art training is necessary.

Faculty:
Judith Allen is a printmaker and mixed media artists who works in both traditional intaglio printmaking and experimental, contemporary printmaking processes. She is especially interested in the overlap of printmaking with other fine art discipline and often includes some form of printmaking in her mixed media work. She exhibits her work in the USA and Europe. Her recent exhibitions include Diagonal Latitudes at Cove Street Arts, Portland and Time at the Benaki Museum, Athens, Greece . She lives for six months of the year in Portland and six months in Athens, Greece. www.judithallenstudios.com.
