Have you ever wanted to make your own woven wall tapestry? This is the video for you! MAT candidate Philippa Adam will walk you through building an easy DIY cardboard loom and basic weaving terms and methods. Philippa will show you how to use your loom to create your own unique and eccentric woven wall tapestry, with the option to include upcycled materials in your project.

An access link to the video will be emailed to the person who purchases this workshop video on January 13th. Enjoy with your whole family, one link per device!

Recommended for ages 14-18.

Supply List:

  • Yarn (use whatever you like - but remember weaving takes time! If you want a large weaving, I suggest worsted yarn to be the thinnest you use, and to utilize bulky and chunky weights. I recommend playing with color, texture, and/or weight of yarn, so have about 3 varieties ready in the way you want to play!)

  • Scissors

  • Ruler

  • Pencil

  • Cardboard sheet or cardboard box

  • Tapestry needle

  • A thin twine for your warp - I recommend bakers twine, but a thin but sturdy yarn would work!

    Optional:

    • Alternative weaving supplies - ribbon, roving wool, fabric scraps, paper, photographs, beads...you name it!

    • A dowel or a stick to hang tapestry
