"A picture is worth a thousand words" in a time full of uncertainties; art can be an escape to another world or even dimension.
In this course, students work on strengthening their comic and graphic novel skills, learning tricks of the trade, and pushing their own drawing and writing abilities. Students will explore different formats of comics-making as well as themes in their art. This class is open to all artistic and comic abilities.
There will be a main project assigned weekly which will require independently dedication. Ages 16-Adult.
January 16 to February 20
Saturdays: 10:00 am - 11:00 am

About your teacher:
Mattea (pronounced like Mat- ty), Weinberg, (she, her) graduated from MECA in 2017 in illustration with a minor in public engagement. She received a MAT (Master of Arts in Teaching) degree from MECA in 2018. For half of the year, Mattea lives in New York, teaching nursery-12 grade art classes; she lives and teaches in Maine in the summer months. Mattea lives with a 17-year-old cat named Sassy. We will be focusing on black and white comics.
-Black ink with nibs/brush or black pens with different tip styles ( brush, think & this) Similar to Micron pens
-Mixed medium paper, watercolor or bristle paper
-White jell pens
