Course Description





Fun block printing for beginners or anyone. Make machine washable and weather durable garden signage, patches for clothing, blocks for quilts, pillow tops, etc. Learn to take a simple image or words, carve on a block printing surface, ink it up and transfer to cloth. Learn how to appliqué the blocks to a surface.

Maggie Muth has a BFA in Painting (with a minor in drawing) from MECA, and a two year certificate in Stitched Textiles from the Opus School of Textile Arts in the UK. She has been a life-long stitcher and has taught classes at Maine Fiber Arts, Port Fiber and Mayo Street Arts, the American Visionary Art Museum, Maine College of Art, as well as overseas. Speedball Fabric Block Printing ink  - two tubes (Choose your own color)
1 yard (or more) of quality 100% cotton cloth 
Few pieces of tracing paper
1-2 pieces of transfer paper
Speedball 4” soft rubber brayer
Large wooden spoon or Speedball baren
Pencil and drawing paper/sketchbook
