This photography seminar will include a variety of topics including visualizing a project (pre-visualization through post-visualization) and how to produce and properly sequence a portfolio. Students will also choose topics of importance to them to research and present to the class, with the instructor as moderator. Example topics may include studio photography, flash photography, portraits, etc.

The class will also grapple with individual photoshop problems. Students will bring their work to share with others, to discuss and to get feedback in order for new ideas to evolve within a body of work. Students will produce a body of work and share their progress with the class each meeting.

While the emphasis here is in the digital realm, film photographers are also welcome.

Thurston Howes received a MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University and is known for documentary, environmental portrait, studio, corporate and advertising photography. Thurston is a socially concerned visionary. His work has been featured in many national and international fine art exhibitions as well as several feature films.
