This class is a forum where students can bring their photographs to share with others, to discuss and to get feedback in order for new ideas to evolve within a body of work. Through thoughtful and constructive critique sessions, each student will have the opportunity to learn the language of visual communication in support of one another’s photographic endeavors.

During classes we will also cover a variety of topics including visualizing a project and how to produce and properly sequence a portfolio. Students will also choose topics of importance to them to research and present to the class, with the instructor as moderator. Example topics may include photographic techniques used in the field and editing, specific genres of photography, presentation methods and reflections on historical or contemporary photography.

Learning Objectives:
To help each student visualize and produce a cohesive photographic project through supportive and constructive critique.

Each student should come away from the seminar with a well developed photographic project as well as greater understanding and perspective in the contemporary art community.

Who is this course for?
Students already familiar with photographic techniques looking to develop a cohesive project or portfolio while gaining insights from peers and the broader photography community.

She was introduced to Maine 30 years ago while honing her photographic eye at Maine Media Workshops + College before completing her BFA in Photography at the University of Southern Maine.
