Course Description



Learn simple hand-piecing techniques for putting together a quilt you can take along anywhere, even on a plane! Students will learn how to piece curves and straight lines, squares and circles. Students will learn how to do loose intuitive piecing and precise measured piecing with matching seams.

Instructor: Maggie Muth 

Maggie Muth has a BFA in Painting (with a minor in drawing) from MECA, and a two year certificate in Stitched Textiles from the Opus School of Textile Arts in the UK. She has been a life-long stitcher and has taught classes at Maine Fiber Arts, Port Fiber and Mayo Street Arts, the American Visionary Art Museum, Maine College of Art, as well as overseas.   • Variety of fabric scraps 4” square and larger
  • Needle and thread
  • Sharp fabric scissors
  • Cereal box cardboard
  • 12” ruler
  • Curved objects to make circle templates (plate, cup, etc.)
  • Rotary cutter (optional)
