Learn to weave with expressive marks and unusual materials. We will cover weaving basics including how to warp a loom, pile weave, rya knots and finishing techniques.

Instructor:

Hannah Adams earned her MFA at Maine College of Art. She learned to weave after completing her undergraduate degree. As a broke, underemployed, 20-something she fell in love with weaving for its hands on approach, accessible materials, and the repetitive nature of the craft.

Supplies:

  • lap loom (instructions on how to make a loom out of cardboard can be provided)
  • shuttle (can be made out of cardboard)
  • at least 2 colors of yarn

tapestry needle - can be purchased at PortFiber, Michaels, Joann, or online
other materials to weave with (i.e. paper, fabric, ribbon, etc)
