Drawing by Matt Tanzi
This is a class for people who wish to work as part of a community of artists from their home studio via Google Meets. Together we will run through creative exercises and consider new approaches to art-making with the tools available to us.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this class, we will have a notebook full of sketches, ideas and resources we can bring into our own practice beyond the six weeks we have in this class.
Who is this class for?
This is a class for those who want to create time for art-making at home but are uncertain where to start-- or at least looking to spice things up! This can also be a space for those looking to enhance their drawing/painting skills. All skill levels are welcome for this class.
Faculty:
Matt Tanzi is a career educator and animator working in Portland, ME. After graduating with his MFA from MECA&D in 2015, creative problem solving became the cornerstone to his ever-evolving practice. As an educator, Tanzi aims to empower the next generation of creators, concurrently contemplating the state of the present through his own artwork.
Within the first ten minutes of the opening class, Tanzi will make it known that the class belongs to you, not to him. To that end, the class will be very hands-on and student-centered. If there is a topic you wish to explore during this class, it will become a part of the curriculum. Feedback is given to build upon your skills and successes.
Supplies:
The Instructor will focus on drawing and painting, but the supplies you wish to work with are up to you! Recommendations are a mixed media sketchbook, pencils, pens/markers and acrylic/watercolor/gouache paints.
