Course Description

Learning how to paint a portrait can be intimidating. This course is designed for anyone who wants to learn how to paint portraits or sharpen their skills. During this class, you will study how to make a solid head with proportions, anatomy, lights & darks, and a lot of character discovery from a live model. Homework will be given every week.

Minimum requirement Portrait Drawing.

Open to oils, acrylics, and pastels.

 

Tuition: $335 + $30 Studio fee

Wednesdays, 1/25-3/29  1-4 pm

Nicole Antonette Mokeme by Adeline Goldminc-Tronzo

 

Faculty: Adeline Goldminc-Tronzo was born in Paris, France and trained in NYC at the Art Students League in the 1970s with Robert Beverly Hale, Marshall Glassier, Joseph Hirsch and Norman Lewis. For more than 35 years her work has been exhibited in both Europe and the US. Adeline also conducts painting workshops in Provence, and Paris, France.

FOR OIL:

  • Titanium white
  • Cad yellow light
  • Indian Yellow Naples
  • Cad red
  • Quinacridone sienna
  • Raw umber
  • Magenta
  • Ultramarine blue
  • Cobalt blue
  • Oil medium or Walnut oil
  • Canola oil for cleaning brushes 2 small containers

FOR ACRYLIC: 

  • Titanium white
  • Cad yellow med
  • Cad red
  • Quinacridone magenta
  • Cobalt blue
  • Ultramarine blue
  • Burnt sienna
  • Mars black
  • Acrylic medium
  • A small spray can

FOR BOTH OIL AND ACRYLIC: 

  • A palette and a palette knife
  • Canvas or canvas board (the size is up to you - ie: 16” X 20” -or 20” X 24” or 24" x 30", etc...)
  • Assorted set of brushes (small, medium and large ones)

FOR PASTELS:

  • Your set of Pastels
  • Good colored pastel paper or board (i.e. art spectrum, Uart or any sanded pastel paper or Canson Pastel sanded mi-teintes)
  • A razor blade
  • Blending tortillions
  • A soft brush
  • Masking tape
  • Alcohol and a brush
  • A drawing board

FOR EVERYONE:

  • SKETCHBOOK
  • PENCILS
  • CHARCOAL
  • KNEADED ERASE
  • PAPER TOWELS

 

COVID POLICIES:

All students + faculty are required to:
