Students will explore a variety of non-toxic printmaking techniques including Xerox lithography, etching with acrylic hard and soft grounds, trace monoprints, and drypoint. Demonstrations of a variety of strategies for edition printing and monoprinting on paper and cloth will be presented with ongoing individual consultation and critiques. Students may explore a variety of techniques or focus on one or two areas of interest and may work with previously made plates to reprint or combine with newly made plates.

Judith Allen-Efstathiou is a sculptor, printmaker and mixed media artist who works with copper, traditional intaglio printmaking and experimental, contemporary printmaking processes. She is especially interested in the overlap of printmaking with other fine art discipline and often includes some form of printmaking in her mixed media work and sculpture. She was recently awarded a commission to make a relief sculpture for the Maine State House using the historic copper removed from the State House dome in reroofing. She has exhibited her work in the USA and Europe in a number of international printmaking biennials.
