CIL 020-W24 | Intro to Digital Drawing Techniques

CIL 020-W24 | Intro to Digital Drawing Techniques

1/17-2/7 (4 sessions) 6-9pm, Wednesday, Room 289

Maximum Enrollment: 12 LBS

Course Description

Come explore a different approach to digital illustration each week! During the last week we will work in our favorite style whether it be digital painting, vector, or “tradigital” (traditional supplemented by digital means) to develop a final piece.

  • First we will be doing a basic tools of trade intro; your tablets, your program options, etc. We will evaluate your goals for your digital drawings.
  • After this we will start with basic drawing techniques in the industry standard programs: Photoshop, Fresco, Procreate, etc.
  • 3rd step will be getting a bit more "computery" and learning ways to really push our digital practice using automation and other programs (Like Adobe Illustrator and Potentially After Effects) that push our understanding of what it means to draw digitally.
  • 4th step is combining our non-digital art with digital art to see how they can help each influence and support one another.
  • On the last class we will be making (or at least starting) a self-guided piece inspired by any of the techniques we've covered with the goal of making something of quality that would fit nicely into a professional portfolio.
