Sketchbooks: Cultivating A Daily Practice
At the first class meeting, we’ll make a small sketchbook to fill up during the week. The sketchbook homework will follow a different prompt each week. Instruction will include all types of drawing techniques. Various materials will be provided for you to try. Strategies for working everyday will be explored. Materials and techniques covered will include graphite pencil, colored pencil, chalk pastels, oil pastels, watercolor and ink. Subject matter will include objects, landscape, and people. We will explore slow drawing and fast drawing, drawing from observation, drawing from memory and drawing from imagination. This class uses drawing exercises and games that are fun, energizing and relaxing. Suitable for all levels, especially beginners and those wishing to get back to drawing after a break, this class has a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
