This course will present strategies for combining traditional intaglio techniques with non-traditional approaches to printmaking including non-toxic intaglio printmaking and Xerox lithography techniques. You will explore the possibilities of using photographs, computer generated images, drawings and Xerox copies in conjunction with basic techniques of non-toxic printing.

Judith Allen-Efstathiou is a sculptor, printmaker and mixed media artists who works with copper, traditional intaglio printmaking and experimental, contemporary printmaking processes. She is especially interested in the overlap of printmaking with other fine art discipline and often includes some form of printmaking in her mixed media work and sculpture. She was recently awarded a commission to make a relief sculpture for the Maine State House using the historic copper removed from the State House dome in reroofing. She has exhibited her work in the USA and Europe in a number of international printmaking biennials, She lives for six months of the year in Portland and six months in Athens, Greece. www.judithallenstudios.com
