Have you ever wanted to experiment with printmaking but are intimidated by materials and the need for a full press and/or printmaking studio? Are you an artist looking to be energized by a new medium, or a wish-I-was-an-artist hoping to find a friendly creative community to be part of? If your answer to any of these questions is "yes", then this is the class for you! Using supplies and techniques that are accessible to all, we will experiment with screenprint, relief and monotype, and create original and unique works of art in a relaxed atmosphere that celebrates play and process as well as the final product!
TUITION: $335 + FEES: $55
Jennifer Emrich is a printmaker and art teacher in Portland, ME. She's travelled the world to see great art in all its forms and functions, but prefers to imbue her own prints with whimsy - often valuing repetition and process over product. Jennifer works with artists of all ages, and is especially interested in working with people who say "I'm not an artist" but secretly wish they were. Art is a practice, and anyone can learn! Join me if you are a printmaker or painter who wants to explore new ways of seeing and doing, or if you are a person who hungers to make art but rarely gives yourself the time - all are welcome!
SUPPLIES: Practice paper (which will be discussed during the first class)
