Course Description

Students will investigate posed and candid portraits . Students will learn how to capture the inner essence of a person and how to tell their story, with meaningful, purposeful, portraiture. During this workshop students will evaluate and study successful portrait photographers, as well as make images themselves.

Thurston Howes received a MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University and is known for documentary, environmental portrait, studio, corporate and advertising photography. Thurston is a socially concerned visionary. His work has been featured in many national and international fine art exhibitions as well as several feature films.
