Students will explore the basic skills for "seeing-to-draw." Drawing is a learned skill, facilitated by directing the eyes and visual attention in specific ways. Through demanding and eye-opening exercises, students will discover hidden abilities, using pencil, charcoal and other materials. This course is for beginners and those seeking to improve their drawing skills. Class exercises will include still life and working with a live model.

Martha Miller has been creating portraits and self-portraits for over thirty years, working in pencil, pastel, charcoal and mixed media. Martha holds a BFA in Printmaking from MECA, worked for many years with the North Berwick Figure Drawing Group and attended figure drawing sessions at the Bowdoinham Academy, studio of the late Carlo Pittore. She continues to use the print process in her studio practice.
